Day 1: Settle In and Enjoy the Beach

After arriving, start your trip the easiest way possible and explore the area’s highlights with a trip to the ocean. Once you’re checked into your rental, it’s so easy to unpack and explore the shores! Fall is also great for long walks along the shoreline, shelling, and sunbathing alongside the ocean views, thanks to the season’s weather. Depending on when you visit, the water may still be comfortable enough for swimming, especially earlier in the season.

Explore Main Street

Main Street acts as North Myrtle Beach’s central hub, making it an easy destination for a variety of fun activities. The street is home to local restaurants, shops, entertainment, and plenty of places to stop for a drink or bite to eat. Main Street is also a great place to grab a bite, with Hoskins Restaurant as one of our favorites. Afterward, continue exploring the area until the sun goes down and night falls, watching the colors change along the coast.

Day 2: Explore Cherry Grove

For the second day, head to Cherry Grove, where you can combine the beach with fishing, nature, and some time on the marsh.

Start at Cherry Grove Beach

Start things off at Cherry Grove Beach, and see the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier, which stretches out over the Atlantic and provides a popular spot for fishing and sightseeing. Even if you aren’t there to fish, the surrounding area is worth exploring before moving inland toward the marsh, standing as one of the area’s most popular landmarks, complete with an onsite restaurant, as well as stunning views of the setting sun.

Visit Heritage Shores Nature Preserve

Not too far from the pier is this preserve, which features walking paths, boardwalks, observation areas, and one of the area’s best birdwatching spots. It’s a great change of pace from the beach, offering a closer look at the habitats that make North Myrtle Beach’s natural side unique. If you want to spend even more time around the marsh, stop at Russell Burgess Coastal Preserve for some great views of the nearby waterways.

Go Golfing for the Afternoon

North Myrtle Beach has numerous golf courses nearby, and the cooler temperatures of fall can make spending several hours outside much more comfortable. The courses are known for their scenic marshes and views of the Intracoastal Waterway. Tidewater, Barefoot, and Glen Dornoch are among the most well-known of the area’s courses.

Day 3: Barefoot Landing and One Last Beach Visit

Keep things light on your last day and spend it enjoying easy activities around North Myrtle Beach before heading into town.

Spend the Afternoon at Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing sits right along the Intracoastal Waterway, combining shopping, restaurants, attractions, and entertainment in one walkable area. Explore the local shops, walk along the waterfront, or stop for lunch before continuing your trip. Popular attractions in and around Barefoot Landing include Alligator Adventure, Alabama Theatre, and Duplin Winery, for easy stops to pass the time while you’re there. You can also spend your time exploring the shops and waterfront rather than adding another ticketed activity. If you are hungry before heading home, several restaurants are nearby. Flying Fish Public Market & Grill is a popular choice for seafood along the Intracoastal Waterway, while other dining options throughout the complex make it easy to find something before wrapping up your trip.
